Fundació Joan Miró (Joan Miró Museum)
The Fundació Joan Miró is located in Montjuïc Park in a magnificent Mediterranean-style building designed by Josep Lluís Sert, and houses the most important public collection of works by Joan Miró.
Miró's artistic career and the wide variety of techniques he used are widely represented by the more than 16,000 exhibits on display. 217 paintings, 178 sculptures, 9 textile works, the almost complete print collection and over 8,000 drawings provide an in-depth understanding of the creative process of the Catalan genius. In addition to the works by Joan Miró, the Foundation also has a small collection of contemporary art consisting of gifts and loans from leading artists.
Over the years, the Joan Miró Foundation has become a major point of reference on the world art scene and offers Barcelona's visitors a wide range of exhibitions, encompassing the avant-garde and the latest artistic trends. It also has a pioneering exhibition space, Espai 13, which stimulates research and experimentation among young artists.

The Fundació uses a number of resources and runs different activities to ensure blind and partially sighted visitors can make the most of their time at the museum:
- A hands-on 1:100 scale model of the building with printed and Braille captions.
- Tours inspired by Joan Miró’s work (sculptures, paintings and prints) with hands-on support materials.
- A guided tour of the building with hands-on models explaining how the reinforced-concrete building was built, with printed and Braille captions.
- Blind and partially sighted visitors may touch some sculptures with the gloves provided, upon request.
- Eyepieces and illuminated magnifying glasses are available upon request for browsing catalogues and other publications.
- An accessible reference space with computers for accessing "Play Miró" (interactive online contents on Joan Miró’s life and work) and specific videos and activities for blind and partially sighted visitors. Play Miró is also available on the Fundació Miró’s website.
- Fixed induction loops in the auditorium and at reception and in the museum’s audio guides.
- Guided tours with sign language and lip reading interpreters available upon request.
- An accessible reference space with computers for accessing Play Miró (interactive online contents on Joan Miró’s life and work) and subtitled videos and activities (in Catalan, Spanish, English and French). Play Miró is also available on the Fundació Miró’s website.
- Children’s events with sign language interpreters.
- Family workshops with sign language interpreters.
You can get to the Fundació Miró by accessible bus or the Montjuïc funicular, which is also accessible.
The main entrance is wheelchair accessible (the ramp has a 1:10 gradient). There are two reserved parking spaces in front of the Foundation.
All the areas inside the museum, temporary exhibition galleries, the permanent collection, restaurant, shop, bookshop and library are wheelchair accessible.
The building has adapted toilets.
Wheelchairs and transportable seats for visitors. They can be requested at the reception desk.
