The two skyscrapers on either side are the Mapfre Tower and the Hotel Arts, with
Frank Gehry"s spectacular goldfish sculpture at its base, and nearby, the
Gran Casino de Barcelona. Lovers of water sports can go yachting or practise other types of sailing techniques here, and in the summertime, the beaches on either side of the marina –
Somorrostro and
Nova Icària – are the perfect place for sunbathing or for a cooling dip in the sea.
The town of Sitges is located 37 km to the south of Barcelona, and its beaches and streets retain the beauty that inspired a whole generation of catalan artists in the late 19th century. We recommend you visit the modernista-style mansions and museums, and soak up the atmosphere of its pavement cafés and leisure attractions.
Terrassa, 28 Km west of Barcelona, modernista architects created factories and public buildings, as well as luxurious houses. The town has transformed its industrial past into museums and tourist trails. Sant Llorenç del Munt Natural Park is located just 5 Km from the town centre.
The TNC, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, is located in
Barcelona"s Eixample. It was designed by the architect Ricard Bofill and comprises three theatres. It combine performances of Catalan and Spanish plays and world classics, with contemporary dance and drama, family theater and major international productions, offering proposals for all audiences.
