Accessibility details

All European airports provide free assistance to disabled passengers in compliance with Regulation (EC) 1107/2006 of the European Parliament, of 26th July 2008.

You can request this free assistance at any Spanish airport on the Aena (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea) website, or by phoning 902 404 704.

Important: the service must be requested 48 hours in advance and is only valid for assistance at Spanish airports that are part of the Aena network. Passengers with any special needs will have to notify their airline, travel agent or tour operator.

Airports run by Aena and the other European airports have meeting points, duly signposted, inside and outside the terminal buildings (car parks, drop-off point in the arrivals area, check-in area), where disabled people can easily notify staff of their arrival at the airport and request assistance using an intercom.
Visual impairment
The meeting points have information panels in Braille in English and Spanish giving instructions about how to request assistance. The request button is also labelled. You can also ask for a Braille copy of “Passenger Rights and Information for Disabled People” at the information desks .

The button panels in the new lifts feature raised lettering and Braille.

Sign language interpreters are available on request to accompany deaf or hearing-impaired passengers who require assistance. They can be identified by their green jackets.

Access

The car park and T1 are connected by a walkway and lifts. T2 and the car parks are connected by moving walkways. All architectural barriers have been removed from pavements and traffic islands. Bollards have been placed in the road to prevent vehicles from passing through pedestrianised areas. The Renfe suburban rail station can be reached from T2 by lifts and a walkway. A shuttle bus runs from T1 to the station. The airport bus, the Aerobús, and the bus (no. 46) operated by Barcelona Metropolitan Transport (TMB) are adapted.

Terminals The departure and arrivals halls in the terminals are accessed by adapted sliding and revolving doors. The different levels between the ground floor and top floor in the terminals are connected by lifts. The adapted public toilets are signposted in compliance with current guidelines.
