Arriving by train

Barcelona operates a number of direct high-speed rail routes to cities in France, including Paris, Lyon and Perpignan, and more than 30 destinations across Spain, including Madrid and the south-east and southern regions. Its main termini also operate suburban and regional rail services that enable you to travel around Catalonia comfortably and conveniently.

Accessibility

ATENDO is the Spanish Railway’s personalised service to help disabled and reduced-mobility passengers and the elderly to access and move through the stations and board and alight from the trains. However, travellers requiring special assistance to communicate, eat, drink or use the toilet must travel with a companion. .

Atendo booking line: 902 240 505. Bookings must be made at least 12 hours before the train departs. In order to process your booking, please state clearly what your disability is and your journey requirements.

Sants Station and the Estació de França have a permanent Atendo service. The service can be requested without prior notice. Passengers should arrive 30 minutes before the train departs at the travel centre (centre d’atenció al client).

Important information for reduced-mobility passengers

Specially designated spaces for wheelchair passengers on trains are called plazas H. To use these spaces, wheelchairs must not exceed the following dimensions: width 700 mm, depth 1,300 mm, and height 1,400 mm.

If you need a transit wheelchair to move through the station and/or access your train, please specify when you purchase your ticket or request the Atendo service.

For medium distance (Media Distancia) trains, if you have a ticket without an allocated seat and you need to travel in a designated reduced-mobility space (plaza H), you must book it in advance by phoning 902 240 505 and arrive at the meeting point at the station at least 30 minutes before the train departs.
